The VG150 has been developed for the ORC and ORR racer/cruiser market. This sail boat design will be a great offshore competitor with a light weight, fully functional, cross-purpose interior.
Our 2G hull geometry has a quick streamline canoe body guaranteeing a strong windward performance, while the powerful after sections ensure a dominant planing ability. The sail plan has been optimized for the rating bands the VG150 will typically compete in.
The fractional two-spreader mast is carbon fiber with 20 degree swept-back spreaders and is supported by rod rigging. The boom is also fabricated from carbon fiber. The cockpit is long and open with a dual competition carbon wheels. The keel fin sports our state-of-the-art, high-lift, laminar flow foil sections, contributing to a remarkably stable and well-balanced boat.
Below decks is a functional well laid out interior, attuned to offshore sailing. There is a forward-facing navigation station to port, the galley to starboard, six pipe cots, permanent salon seating which form two more berths, and an enclosed head.
The construction of the post-cured hull and deck structure consists of a vacuum-bagged, wet-preg e-glass laminate over a foam core using an epoxy resin. Carbon fiber is used selectively in areas of high loadings such as stringers, frames, and chainplates. The rudder blade and stock in this racer/cruiser sail boat are all carbon.
