Design Criteria

“Castor” is the second-brightest object in the zodiac constellation of Gemini and one of the brightest stars in the night sky. It’s an appropriate name for the slightly smaller sister to Amawele (twins in the Zulu language). At 55 meters, this elegant, efficient power catamaran is a superbly stable platform with her spacious interior, easily-driven hulls and generous underwing clearance.

Construction of an Efficient Power Catamaran

Like her big sister Amawele, Castor’s robust aluminum construction has been engineered for world cruising operations. All structural components are modeled in 3D for a high degree of accuracy and efficiency in construction. The structure will be of aluminum plate (alloy 5083-H32) and extruded shapes (alloy 6061-T6). All scantlings, materials and weldment will be sized to comply with Lloyd’s Register 100 A1 SSC Yacht (P) MONO G6 +LMC UMS classification society rules, and will be MCA Compliant.

General Arrangement

Castor has three spacious upper accommodation decks for the owner, the captain and guests, plus a panoramic flybridge. The below decks area (hulls) accommodate crew, engine rooms, machinery space, utility areas and tender stowage.

The main weather deck boasts three guest staterooms, a media room, an expansive dining area, plush indoor and outdoor lounge areas and bars, a gourmet galley, as well as water sport vehicle stowage. The mid deck consists of the owner’s stateroom, a VIP stateroom, an office, luxurious lounge seating and bar, along with a sun deck complete with a Jacuzzi. The bridge deck arrangement includes a captain’s cabin, lounge area, day head, ship controls and navigation, and an after deck which can be converted to a helipad.
